Bravo has renewed “Chef Roblé” for a second season as part of its 2012 Media Upfront announcement. The network also confirmed new seasons of “The Kandi Factory,” “Flipping Out,” “Tabitha Takes Over,” “Top Chef Masters,” and several other unscripted shows.
Bravo said it will increase original programming by 27 percent, adding 11 new and eight returning unscripted series. The network also has two scripted projects in development.
Chef Roblé Headlines Bravo’s Growth Push
Bravo plans to launch its first scripted series in 2013. Executives said the network remains focused on “breakthrough programming” and continues to work with top creators, including Randi Zuckerberg and long‑time Bravo partners Magical Elves.
Bravo Expands Digital Pillars
Bravo announced a major digital expansion with the launch of a sixth brand pillar, Digital, joining Food, Fashion, Beauty, Design and Pop Culture. The move follows the success of “Last Chance Kitchen,” which tied into the Emmy Award‑winning “Top Chef” and earned eight million video streams.
The new digital focus will support multi‑screen experiences, social engagement and shows centered on online culture. Bravo’s first digital‑driven projects include a Zuckerberg‑produced series and “Huh?”, a RelativityREAL docu‑series following Ben Huh and the icanhascheezburger.com team.
New Transmedia and Social Features
Bravo will launch “The Real Housewives: The Game” on Facebook this summer. The game will debut with the fifth season of “The Real Housewives of New York City.”
The network also plans to introduce “play along,” a real‑time viewing tool that lets fans answer trivia, vote in polls and predict outcomes across devices.
Bravo Highlights Audience Engagement
Bravo Media President Frances Berwick said the network’s audience drives its digital growth. “Our Affluencers are passionate about our content and are the first to try new technologies,” she said.
Ratings Momentum and Digital Growth
Bravo posted its sixth straight record‑breaking year in 2011. The network ranked No. 11 in primetime among cable entertainment networks for adults 18–49, according to Nielsen. Ten original series drew more than two million viewers.
