Detaiks: Missing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott
Scott, a 23-year-old woman, vanished during her overnight shift at a Chestnut Hill nursing home on Oct. 4. Police recovered her car parked outside the facility, but no one has seen or heard from her since.
“She completely disappeared,” said Capt. John Craig of the Philadelphia Police Department. “No cellphone activity, social media. No contact with family or friends.”
Scott’s mother, Kim Matthews, last saw her Saturday evening as she left for work. Though Scott arrived at the Terrace at Chestnut Hill, she left before completing her shift. Detectives confirmed the facility had no surveillance cameras.
She reportedly told family she was being harassed
Police say Scott’s disappearance is especially troubling because she had reported being harassed before she went missing.
“Days prior to her disappearance, Miss Scott related to family and friends that unknown individuals or person had been harassing her via phone,” Craig said during a press conference, according to ABC 6. “We’re investigating that. We’re trying to learn more.”
Matthews confirmed her daughter had mentioned the harassment but didn’t name anyone. “She did mention it to them,” she told CBS News, “but didn’t give any names or anything like that, so we’re trying to piece it together to find out exactly who these people are.”
Scott’s phone has remained inactive since her disappearance. Her social media accounts have also gone silent, police said.
“She would never leave without contacting someone,” Matthews said. “We fear that she’s not safe.”
Scott’s father, Kevin Scott, described the past few days as overwhelming. “She’s my oldest daughter. I love her,” he told ABC 6.
Ongoing investigation to find Kada Scott
Police have used helicopters and K-9 units in their search. Detectives are canvassing the area, interviewing coworkers, and examining Scott’s digital history for clues.
Scott’s family has been posting missing person flyers across Philadelphia. They’re asking anyone with information to come forward.
Craig urged the public to help. “No matter what information you have, think of it as a possible piece of a large jigsaw puzzle,” he said. “If there’s 100 pieces to a puzzle, you may think yours is insignificant, but without your piece, that jigsaw puzzle is not being solved.”
Police describe Scott as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She graduated from Penn State. Investigators entered her name into the National Crime Information Center database.
Philadelphia police urge anyone with information to call 215-686-TIPS.
